Lucy Kim was born in South Korea as Yoo-Kyeong
Kim. She played amateur golf there and turned pro in 2007.
At that point she joined the Futures Tour, and things become
a little confusing. She decided to take the name Moon Su when
she played on the Futures Tour. For the next couple of years,
she played on that tour under that name.
In 2009, she competed at the LPGA Qualfying
School under a new name: Rucy Kim. She got through to the
finals, then comically realized she had misspelled her "name".
Thus, at Q-School finals she became known as Lucy Kim, her
third new name since coming to America. Lucy had a great week
at Q-School, finishing 14th to earn full membership on the
LPGA in 2010.
Kim did not have a great year in 2010, and
returned to Q-School in the Fall. She only finished 55th there,
but received category 15 status for 2011, thanks to her 123rd
place finish on the 2010 money list. She will be going by
her birth name of Yoo Kyeong in the 2011 season.
Kim played better in 2011 than in her rookie
year. She made only three cuts, but notched her best performance
at a Major with a tie for 34th at the LPGA Championship. She
ended up 110th on the money list, maintaining her category
15 status.
She played four events on the LPGA in 2012,
but made no cuts and lost her playing privileges for 2013.
I have not found any other pro results for her since then,
so I suspect she has retired.
