But 2011 proved to be a breakout year for Kang.
She made 6 top tens, more than she had in her entire career before
that, and made the cut in 14 of 15 events played. Her best finish
was a third place at the Island Resort Championship in June. She
finished 8th on the money list and earned limited status for the
LPGA in 2012.
Kang played 7 events on the LPGA tour in 2012, but
only made one cut. She had a little more success on the Symetra
tour: she had one top ten and made nearly $8,800, but that was only
good for 61st on that money list.
Kang went back to Q-School, where she finished tied
for 27th and earned category 17 status on tour for 2013. The next
year, she played 7 events and made the cut just twice. But one of
those made cuts came at the Manulife, where she played the tournament
of her life. It was a low scoring course, but she still managed
to shoot two 64s, her best ever score, to finish 13th, by far her
best finish ever on tour. That in turn qualified her for the season
ending CME Group TitleHolders, where she made her other cut of the
year (there was no cut there, so none to miss!). In all, she only
made about $25,000 in 2013, almost all of it at the Manulife, but
that allowed her to maintain limited status on tour for 2014.
In 2014, Kang only made a few thousand dollars and
finished 156th on the money list. She lost her playing privileges.
There is no record of her playing in America after this, and she
may have retired.
