The Scoop:
Jimin got off to a great start in this event with a 69-70 to put herself just three shots off the lead going into the weekend. Her 4 under par 68 on Saturday left her in fourth place going into Sunday, but behind Annika Sorenstam and Hee-Won Han and three shots behind Karine Icher. But she was simply brilliant on Sunday, going out in 4 under par on the front nine. By the middle of the back nine, the tournament had become a battle between her and her playing partner, Korean rookie Meena Lee. Jimin seemed in trouble as she bogied the par 5 14th to slip two shots behind Lee, but on the next hole, a par 3, she made a miraculous hole-in-one to regain a share of the lead. Kang took the lead with a birdie on 16, but Lee struck back with a birdie on 17. Alas, on 18, Lee hit a poor tee shot and struggled the entire hole, carding a double bogey. Jimin made par and collected her first ever trophy on the LPGA tour!
