The Scoop:
Another Korean took the early lead at this tournament. Shi Hyun Ahn seized the lead in round one and hung on to it through two days. In second place sat Seon Hwa Lee, the super rookie. Jeong Jang had played well the first couple days, but was still a bit back. But she made her move on Saturday, surging to a 6 under par 66 that put her on top of the leaderboard, one ahead of her good friend Mi Hyun Kim. Kimmie faded fast on Sunday, but a couple of rookies challenged JJ for the title. Brittany Lang hung tough for a while, but her driver did her in on the back nine. Then South American rookie Julietta Granada made her move, sticking her approach on 18 to a couple of feet and posting a 12 under total after making birdie there. JJ was also at 12 under, but hit a gorgeous pitch on the par 5 17th which lightly tapped the flag and settled a few feet away. She made birdie and went on to take the title, her first on American soil, by one shot.
