Grace named to Board of Directors
Congratulations to Grace Park, who received a most prestigious honor! The LPGA has named her to their Board of Directors as a nonvoting member. Exactly what that means is not clear, except that, at the least, she'll be allowed to participate in discussions that concern the players, and offer a Korean perspective. Hopefully at some point she'll get bumped up to voting status, but even as a nonvoting member, her presence will be a welcome addition to the ruling body of the LPGA!

Shi Hyun Ahn to appear on Korean MTV
Shi Hyun Ahn, the 'Cinderella' of Korean golf, just keeps getting more and more good things coming her way. She has now been asked to appear on the Korean version of MTV. One article I read said she would be giving the host of the program, a pop singer named Bee, a golf lesson; another seemed to suggest she'd even participate in a duet with him! Well, if that's true, we'll let you know when the Shi Hyun Ahn Unplugged album is coming out!

In the meantime, enjoy these photos of Ahn from her childhood, which have been published recently in Korea!

Aree Song goes glam
Well, now that she is a hardened professional, it's time to get down to the business of finding sponsors. Yes, Aree Song is ready to show the world that she is no longer that cute kid kicking butt as an amateur, but a full-fledged pro. As part of that process, she recently posed for her first set of 'grown-up' photos. Get your minds out of the gutter! I'm not talking about Maxim, I'm talking about Aree in a series of nice outfits, with makeup, finely coifed hair, and nice smiles. Kinda like this photo on the left!

Pinx Cup Update
With the annual Korea-Japan ladies golf brouhaha about to start (it is now again called the Pinx Cup), there is a bit of late breaking news. Seems that Gloria Park has had a nagging wrist injury, and has had to bow out of the competition. Cinderella Shi Hyun Ahn gets another lucky break! In the classic Broadway tale, the understudy gets a chance to go on stage when the star breaks her leg. Well, Ahn will now get to be on the team in place of Gloria. She's had a chance to rest, and the competition is taking place on Cheju Island, the site of her victory on the LPGA (though not the same course). Hopefully she'll be ready to contribute!

Shi Hyun Ahn is now on the

Blood Types of the Seoul Sisters revealed!
In Korean culture, blood type is one of those things you want to know about a person, just like their height, age, etc. Apparently many Koreans believe you can tell a lot about a person if you know their blood type. People with Blood Type O are said to be outgoing, active and optimistic. People with blood type A are considered sensitive, introverted and accurate.

Anyway, a recent article published in Korea revealed the blood types of the top Korean golfers. Do their personalities match the assessments above? You be the judge!

Mi Na Lee (young KLPGA superstar)

Type A:

No big stars had this type!

Money List
Yet another pair of top tens for the top two Korean players, Grace Park and Se Ri Pak. Se Ri slightly edged out Grace at the season's final event, allowing her to beat Grace in the player of the year standings, money list and Vare Trophy standings. The other three Korean players participating in the ADT had bad events, but still added some nice Christmas bonuses to their stockings. The final standings show 8 Korean players in the top 40 on the money list, and 3 in the top four. The Seoul Sisters keep on rocking! Good luck in 2004!
