Saturday, with Grace Park (I think it was the Fifth of July)(continued)

I then said that I felt that if Grace continued her improvement, she would be pretty great in a couple of years. He helpfully reminded me that she was already great! D'oh, I knew that! But I deftly agreed and added that the sky was the limit for her!

Dave then introduced me to the Nike people as the guy who does the Seoul Sisters web site. He also praised the T-shirt I had worn the other day. I showed them the back of my golf shirt, which had the logo on it, and when I turned around, there was Grace! I said hi to her, and Grace said 'Hi, Eric' in return. She wanted to see what everyone was looking at, so I showed her the back of my shirt again, and she laughed.

The chit chat continued for another couple of minutes, then I made myself scarce. I got to tell you, if there's one thing that I really loved about this trip, it was getting the chance to meet Grace and the other ladies, and to see for myself just how nice they really are. Grace was always quite pleasant and fun, and she's got a nice sense of humor, too. If you see her at a tournament, say 'hi' for me, and tell her you read about her in this article!

After this, I went and found Jeong Jang and followed her for about six holes. JJ was already in the top ten at this point, but while I watched her she scored another couple of birdies. She had it going on! Of course, we know what happened to her on Sunday. She got herself to 4 under, was essentially in the lead, then gave it all away on the par 3 5th. A disastrous quintuple bogey 8 that included two straight shots into the water and a three putt. Despite this she still notched a top ten, but when you think that even a double bogey on that hole would have been enough to get her into the playoff, any Seoul Sister fan has to wince. Alas, that's golf.

Another solid round for Amazing Grace

After that, I went back to the hotel. That night, they had an interview on with Christina Kim which was pretty funny (this was on the local news). She said she prefers the West Coast cause everyone is so nice, and you don't have to deal with all the heat and insects you get back East (little did she realize what was in store for her in Vancouver in just a week). 'It's like paradise' she said. Spoken like a true California girl.
