Profile: Sunny Oh

Sunny showed up for the Monday qualifier ready to play, but got off to a rough start. She was clearly exasperated and showed it. But helping her to calm down was her playing partner, Sunny Lee. "She's 29 years old and thinks of me as a baby or something like that. She took care of me a little bit" Oh said. After they finished, they both hung out together, waiting for the news of who would get to play. For a brief while, it looked as though there might be another playoff, this time between Oh and Karine Icher; at least, that was the rumor that was spreading around the course. But as it turned out, Icher was not tied with Oh, she was one shot behind her, and so the two Sunnys both qualified for the event without needing a playoff.

Sunny lets 'er rip during round 2

Sunny Oh played well during the actual event, despite treacherous winds and a balky putter. She carded a two over par 74 which left her just five shots out of the lead after day 1. She improved on day 2, shooting an even par 72 to easily make the cut.

But Saturday proved a different story; the winds kicked up again, and Sunny found it difficult to control her distance. She shot a 3 over par 75, good enough for 49th place. Not too bad for her first try at a pro event! Afterwards, she decided that the experience had been very rewarding: "I learned a lot from the two professional golfers (I played with)," she said. "They were awesome and I had fun."

The Korean media also had fun with Sunny, and gave her quite a bit of coverage. Sunny's stylishness, talent and good looks really wowed them, judging by the press she got. In fact, a new fan club was started on the internet as the photos you are seeing here reached the Korean public. The fan club's name? "I Love Sunny Oh".

So keep an eye out for Oh. Sunny Oh! I'm thinking you haven't heard the last from her.
